    • Schwartzentruber, Amos, son of the late Jacob and Magdalena (Schultz) Schwartzentruber, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., Sept. 2, 1893; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., June 2, 1966; aged 72 y. 9 m. On Jan. 17, 1915, he was married to Clara Jantzi, who predeceased him July 12, 1917. On June 23, 1920, he was married to Edna Litwiller, who survives. Also surviving are one son (A. Orley), 2 daughters (Doris - Mrs. Lauren Wispe and Anita - Mrs. Raul Garcia), 2 brothers (John and Emanuel), one sister (Mrs. Jeremiah Ramseyer), and 9 grandchildren. Following his ordination to the Christian ministry in 1924, Amos and Edna sailed for South America, having been appointed by the Mennonite Board of Missions to serve in Argentina. In July, 1934, he was ordained to the office of bishop to serve congregations in Argentina. After 40 years of service, the Schwartzentrubers retired in 1963 and took up residence in Kitchener. Funeral services were held at Steinman's Church, with Orland Gingerich and Paul Erb officiating; interment in St. Agatha Mennonite Cemetery.

      Rev. Amos Swartzentruber 72, of 24 Cameron St. N., died today at St. Mary's Hospital following a lengthy illness.

      A resident of Kitchener for the past 30 months, he served as a missionary for the Mennonite board of missions and charities in Argentina for 40 years, retiring in November, 1963.

      Mr. Swartzentruber was born at Petersburg, Sept. 2, 1893, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Swartzentruber.

      He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, Baden. His marriage to the former Edna Litwiller, who survives, took place at St. Agatha June 23, 1920.

      Surviving besides his wife are one son, Rev. A. Orley Swartzentruber, Albany, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Lauren (Doris) Wispe, Bethesda, Md., and Mrs. Raul (Anita) Garcia, Pehuajo, Argentina; two brothers, John, Bridgeport and Emanuel, Kitchener; one sister, Mrs. Jeremiah Ramseyer, Kitchener and nine grandchildren.

      The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon Sunday when removal will be made to Steinman Mennonite Church, Baden, for service at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Orland Gingerich will officiate. Interment will be in St. Agatha Mennonite cemetery.
