Notes |
- Mr. Henry Forler
The sad intelligence of the death of a well-known citizen and resident of the city and the surrounding district is imparted today. Mr. Henry Forler answered the call yesterday after a prolonged illness, which began last March. His death occurred at his home at 95 Shanley street. The late Mr. Forler had reached the age of 71 years, 7 months and 13 days. He was born in Philipsburg, where he was brought up and spent the earlier years of his life. For some time he was engaged in the tanning business at Philipsburg. Later he was in the hotel business at Baden. After thirteen years in the same, he suffered a fire loss, the hotel being burned. He removed to this city where he entered the employ of the Lang Tanning Company. He remained with the company until last March when his ill-health necessitated retirement. Surviving him are his wife, Amelia Lantz and nine children who are William, Edward, Herbert, Elmer, all in the city; Henry, formerly of this city, now overseas with the 70th A Battery, Heavy Artillery of Kingston, now in Eng., Mrs. Bert Stiefelmeyer, Mrs. Wm. Witt, Mrs. Jacob Hoch and Mrs. E. Engel, all of town. The late Mr. Forler had many friends and enjoyed the respect of all who were acquainted with him. The family's loss is also theirs, as also the community's. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the residence to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, thence to the East End Cemetery for interment.
