  BENDER, Christian S. -- Suddenly, at his home, on Thursday, May 25, 1978, Christian S. Bender of Route 2, New Hamburg, age 79 years. He was born in Wilmot Township, on August 22, 1898, and had resided there his entire life. he was a member of Steinman Mennonite church, Baden. Husband of the late Lydia S. Roth, who predeceased him in 1975. He is survived by two sons, Vernon and Kenneth R., both of Kitchener and a foster daughter, Mrs. William (Florence) Zehr and 15 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, late Jacob H. Bender and the former Katherine Streicher; one brother and one sister. The late Mr. Bender is resting at the Omand-Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg after 2 p.m. this afternoon, until noon on Sunday, May 28, when removal will be made to Steinman Mennonite Church, where funeral service will be conducted at 3: 30 p.m., with Rev. Vernon Zehr and Rev. Elmer Achwartzentruber officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The Kitchener-Waterloo Record 26 May 1978 ____________________________ Christian S. He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, Baden. Husband of the late Lydia S. Roth, who predeceased him in 1975.
