- BENDER, Orie Leon - Died peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Kitchener, on Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, age 74 years, of Kitchener.
Beloved husband of the late Reta Marie Brubacher who predeceased him on December 18, 1993. Dear father of Robert and Dale and his wife Sunita, all of Kitchener; loving grandfather to Christian and Alexandra. Brother of Leona and her husband Lloyd Bender of New Hamburg, Harold and his wife Marie of Tavistock and Ross and his wife Ruth of Goshen, Ind.
Orie was born in East Zorra township May 23, 1922, a son of the late Christian K. and Katie Bender. In addition to his parents, he was prede ceased by two children, James Eugene and Carolyn Joy and one brother, Walter Bender.
He was an active member of First Mennonite Church in Kitchener where he at one time served as chair of the church council. He was the former owner and operator of Bender Sales and Service.
Private family visitation was held followed by interment of cremated remains at First Mennonite Cemetery.
Orie's family will receive friends at First Mennonite Church in Kitchener on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held at First Mennonite Church on Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rudy Baergen officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Student Aid Fund of First Mennonite Church or K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital and can be arranged by calling the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at 745-8445.
