  • Notes
    • The home of Mr. and Mrs. F. Schramm, Haysville, was the scene of a very pretty wedding, on Wednesday, June 26 (1912), when their eldest daughter Emma was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Wilson G. Helwig, of New Hamburg, the ceremony being performed by Prof. Von Berge of Rochester. Under an arbor of evergreens, and orange blossoms, the bride entered the parlor, leaning on her father's arm,-who gave her away. Mendelsohn's wedding march was rendered by Mrs. G. Becker of New Hamburg. The bride was gowned in a cream missaline satin with lace and pearl trimmings; her veil was caught in a coronet with fern and orange blossoms; she carrying a bouquet of pink and white carnations. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Lizzie Schramm. The groom was ably supported by his brother Elmer. The groom's gift to the bride was cut glass, to the bridesmaid a pearl necklace, and to the groomsman gold cuff links. Guests to the number sixty, from Brantford, Neustadt, Pennsylvania, Rochester, Waterloo, and Berlin (ON), sat down to a sumptuous dejeuner, the table decorations being carnations, peonies and smilax. During the signing of the register Miss E. Phipps of Brantford sang "The Birthday of Love". the presents were numerous and costly, showing the esteem in which the young couple are held. The happy couple left amid showers of confetti and hearty congratulations for Toronto, Buffalo, and points east. The bride travelled in a suit of tan whip cord with a hat and plume to match. On their return Mr. and Mrs W. G. Helwig will reside on Chestnut Street, New Hamburg.
