- At K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, peacefully surrounded by his family. Theodore Henry Isley, aged 91 years.
Ted was a member of St. Boniface Church, Maryhill, the Church Choir and the Holy Name Society, Past Grand Knight of Maryhill Knights of Columbus and a member of the Guelph Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, was very active in community affairs, a member of the Maryhill Historical Society and was very active in Waterloo Farm and Safety Committee.
He was Reeve of Waterloo Township from 62-71 and was on the County Council. He represented South Waterloo in the Ontario Legislature from 1948-51, County Warden in 1968 and was on the first Regional Council.
He was a member of the Waterloo Regional Police Commission and farmed in the Breslau area for many years. Dear father to John and his wife Jackie of Kitchener, George and his wife Linda and Maryanne and her husband Paul Grobe, all of RR1, Breslau.
He also had many foster children and their families, eight grandchildren, Paula and her husband Callum McKee, Craig, Samantha and Adam Isley, William and his wife Linda Grobe, Brenda and her husband Steve Snider, Joanne Grobe and Michael and his Fiancee Jennifer, six great-grandchildren, Kevin and Jocelyn, Jacob and Liam, Nicholas and Elena.
Predeceased by his parents George Isley and Josephine Volmer, his first wife the former Rita Zuber in 1998 and his second wife the former Helen Hesch-Obermeyer in 2003, three brothers William in infancy, Fred and Joseph and one sister Marguerite, two grandsons John Jr. and Ryan.
Parish prayers and a Knights of Columbus scripture service were held at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 621 King St. W. on Sept 16, 2004.
A funeral mass was held on Sept 17. 2004 at St. Boniface Church, with Father Ron Voisin officiating.
Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery.
Donations may be made to St. Mary's or Grand River Hospitals or the Ted Isley Bursary for the Congregation of the Resurrection as expressions of sympathy
