- NEW HAMBURG - March 1, 1953 - Mrs. E.D. Eidt died early this morning at her home on Peel St., at the age of 73 years. She suffered a paralytic stroke February 17 from which she failed to rally. Mrs. Eidt was born at Philipsburg, May 18, 1871. Following her marriage she and her husband operated the Philipsburg store. They retired eight months ago and moved to New Hamburg. She was a member of the Evangelical Church. Surviving are her husband, one son Sydney, at home; and two daughters [should read sisters], Mrs. John Hahn, Baden, and Mrs. M. J. Thiel, London, Ontario. One daughter, Vera, died 11 years ago. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon with service at the residence on Peel St., at 2 o'clock, followed by service at Zion Evangelical Church. Interment will be made in Oetzels Cemetery, North Easthope. Rev. Clayton Becker, pastor of the New Hamburg Evangelical Church will conduct the services, assisted by Rev. W.H. Campbell of Oetzels Church. The remains will rest at Becker's Funeral Parlor until tomorrow afternoon when removal will be made to the residence.
