______________
A. WERNER, DRUGGIST.
Intimately connected with the growth of Elmira is the subject of this sketch who has a resident thereof over 28 years. He has always taken a deep interest in whatever would add to its prosperity and has secured valuable information of its history which he freely imparted and offered such material in his possession to assist in preparing it. During the many years in which he has been before the public he has carefully studied the interests of his patrons and maintained it throughout, being particularly careful and painstaking in whatever he undertakes to do. Being conversant with the German language many of the residents of this part of the township requiring assistance otherwise than in his profession frequently call upon him for his services and to better facilitate the work called upon to do. He was appointed Commissioner for taking Affidavits in 1889, and Notary Public for Ontario in 1895 Particular articles have been placed on sale by him and by their own merits a steady sale has been established among others, a Lanoline Cream for all skin troubles: a Cattle Tonic powder, specially adapted for cattle that are being stall fed; an Asthma remedy; a German Balsam which is employed as a household remedy, and a cough balsam. A large and well selected stock of wall paper is carried in connection with the store. An optical department and the issuing of Dominion Express Company's Money Orders are likewise in connection therewith.
