    • Bast, Simon, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bast, was born in Wellesley, Ont.; died at the Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge (P) Ont., Aug. 17, 1976; aged 75 y. He was married to Mattie Leis, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Walter, Harold, and Howard), one daughter (Irmgarde - Mrs. Elmo Miller), 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and one sister. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, where funeral services were field on Aug. 20, in charge of John Hess and Stan Sauder; interment in First Mennonite Cemetery.

      Bast, Simon - Died on Tuesday, August 17, 1976, at his residence, Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge (Preston), Simon Bast age 75 years, formerly of Kitchener. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. He was born in Wellesley, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Bast. He is survived by his wife the former Mattie Leis; father of Walter of Waterloo, Harold and Howard of Kitchener and Mrs. Elmo (Irmgarde) Miller of Waterloo; also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister. Resting at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo after 7 p.m. this evening until noon on Friday; then to First Mennonite Church, Kitchener where the casket will remain open until 2 p.m. Family committal service will be held in the church cemetery at 2 p.m. followed by a public memorial service in the church at 3 p.m. Rev. John Hess and Mr. Stan Sauder officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be shown by contributions to the Gideon Bible Society or the Mennonite Central Committee.
