      Historic C.1900 slant-top desk crafted by Waterloo County cabinetmaker Christian O. Gerber (1845-1928, Wellesley Ontario). Refer to Michael Bird's "A Splendid Harvest - Germanic Folk and Decorative Arts in Canada" (1981: p.115, fig. 83). An outstanding example. Pine, grain-painted surface simulating figured maple, cross-banding, and paneling, full-round pilasters ebonized with floral highlights. Said to be the 'the nicest known' example. Condition: Excellent. Untouched original surface. Desk writing surface felt deteriorated. 42.5" w x 21.5" d x 57" h.

    Historic C.1900 slant-top desk crafted by Waterloo County cabinetmaker Christian O. Gerber (1845-1928, Wellesley Ontario). Refer to Michael Bird's "A Splendid Harvest - Germanic Folk and Decorative Arts in Canada" (1981: p.115, fig. 83). An outstanding example.
