- NAFZIGER, Emerson - Emerson Nafziger. of RR1, Tavistock, passed away in Woodstock General Hospital, on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, his 86th birthday.
He. was born in Wilmot township, Waterloo County on January 7, 1919 a son of the late Daniel Nafziger and the former Nancy Erb. He had worked for Canada Steamship Lines, was a cheesemaker at the Wellesley Cheese Factory prior to 1956 when he moved to his. farm in East Zorra township. Emerson was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sebastopol and in his leisure time enjoyed bowling and playing games. .
He is survived by his wife; the former Delphine Heinbuch, whom he married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sebastopol on October 15, 1955; his daughter, Twyla Nafziger of Mississauga; two brothers, Floyd and wife Erma Nafziger of Kitchener, Leonard and wife Joyce Nafziger of Waterloo; three sisters, Vera Wismer of New Hamburg, Edna Zehr of Tavistock, Betty Steffler of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Elmer Nafziger and wife Ann, Vernon Nafziger and wife Elda; three sisters, Dorothy Martin, Erma Coverett and husband Lyle, Alice Nafziger (in infancy); brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Laverne Zehr, Gerald Stater, Harold Wismer, Delton and Lavele Bender.
Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N., Tavistock, tonight (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock on Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Randy Liedtke will officiate. Interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
