  John A. Murphy HESPELER - John Anthony Murphy, 89, a life-long resident of the Hespeler district, died Tuesday at his residence, Galt St. Mr. Murphy was born at Fisher Mills, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Murphy. He attended Kossuth School. He married Catherine Foley. They celebrated their diamond wedding, receiving congratulations from Pope Pius and also from the late King George VI. A member of St. Mary's RC Church, Mr. Murphy served on the Separate School Board for several years. He was a member of the Hespeler League Sacred Heart, the Holy Name Society, and honorary member of the Galt Knights of Columbus. He was employed as a machinist at the R. Forbes Company Ltd., now the Dominion Woolens, and retired in March, 19(37). He was one of the original members of the Hespeler Fire Brigade and served for over 40 years. His wife predeceased him in 1947. Surviving are a son and three daughters, Mrs. J.T. McCaffrey, and Herbert Murphy, Hespeler, Mrs. W. O. Winterholt and Mrs. August Lang, both of Kitchener; one sister, Mrs. Harry Thomson, Calgary, Alta., three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The body is at the Stager Funeral Home until Thursday when requiem high mass will be solemnized at st. Mary's RC Church, Hespeler, at 10 a.m. with interment in St. Mary's RC Cemetery Kitchener-Waterloo Record 29 Apr 1953
