- Rites Set Saturday For Doctor
Funeral service will be held Saturday morning for a doctor who practised medicine in Calgary and district for almost 50 years.
Dr. John Edward Macklim, 2107 4th St. S.W., died at his home Tuesday, following a brief illness.
Born at Halton County, On., Dr. Macklim lived at Hespler, Ont., and later attended the University of Toronto, where he graduated in medicine in 1911.
Coming west, Dr. Macklim set up a practice in Carstairs in 1915. He later moved to Calgary to establish a joint practice with Dr. L. S. MacKid.
Serving overseas with the Canadian Army Medical Corps until 1919, Dr. Macklim returned to private practice in Calgary.
He was a life member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and the Canadian Medical Association.
He served on the medical staff of both Calgary General Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital, and was made an honorary staff member of Calgary General.
Predeceased by his wife, Pearl Marie, in 1962, Dr. Macklim is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Fletcher of Vulcan, Alta., and Mrs. Hugh Deeney of Winnipeg; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
