  • Notes
    • G. Harvey Worthington, a Puslinch boy, after graduating from the Ontario School of Pharmacy went to work in New York for a time at his profession just for the experience. Around 1897 or 98 he commenced business under style "The Worthington Drug Company" in Goebels Block where Simpson's now have their order office. After a few years here he moved to Guelph and later discontinued there to attend Medical School.

After Graduating as a Doctor he went to Vancouver and there established a lucrative practise in Medicine and Surgery. During his years as a surgeon he kept accumulating parcels of business property strategically located and later established a string of drug stores.

And what with the income from his profession, from his real estate, and from these drug stores he became indeed an important income tax payer. While here he too was dissatisfied with the amount of trade coming to his store from farmers in the district, just as Mr. Zryd and Mr. McBean had been before him and his bid was through the medium of "Worthington's Stock Food" which he made up by the ton and sold locally by retail off wagons; In more remote places, by wholesale to stores catering to farm trade. Many will remember Tommy Carroll, Worthington's drug clerk, who married Gussie Pringle.
