Burglary at Hespeler
Mr. D. Krig's Dry Goods Store Robbed \endash The Burglars Traced to Guelph
Hespeler, Ont., Jan. 6 \endash While Mr. Thos. Rife, of this place, was returning home at an early hour this morning, he noticed that the doors of Mr. H. Krig's dry goods store were open, and at once notified Mr. Krig. Chief McMaster was also notified, and immediately commenced working on the case. On close investigation it was found that the parties had driven up to the door, effected an entrance, and extracted goods to the amount of about one hundred dollars.
The burglars were traced to Guelph, where it was learned they had left for Campbellville. Chief McMaster discovered that their horse had a broken hoof, by which they are being traced.

KREIG, HERMAN
At his home on Cooper St. in Hespeler, at about 4: 30 on Thursday afternoon, October 18, 1934, after an illness of several months' duration. Hespeler lost one of its oldest residents. Mr. Kreig was in his 76th year and had lived here for over fifty years. Born in Kitchener, then Berlin, he came to this district as a young man. He married Minnie Rahman, who survives him and for a few years, lived on a farm in Puslinch Township, on the Townline. Coming to Hespeler, he conducted a coal and wood business and a grocery store and latterly, a wholesale and retail tobacco business until he retired some fifteen years ago. He was a member of the Foresters and Oddfellows Lodges and of St. James' Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, two sons and two daughters, Barney Kreig, John C. Kreig, Mrs. Herbert L. Ott and Leona Kreig, all of Hespeler; two sisters, Mrs. Weaver of Chicago; Mrs. McConnell of Kitchener; and nine grandchildren. A private service was held on Saturday at his home, conducted by Rev. N. A. Keffer, pastor of St. James' Lutheran Church and interment was in Hespeler Cemetery. Pallbearers: C. M. Bartels, H. Prestien, Ed. Bartels, B. Goebel, William Bartels and L. Grill.
