- ELMWOOD - Following a lengthy illness, Mrs. Joseph Monk, 84, of Elmwood, died last night at her home. She was the former Hannah Stadtlander and was born June 8, 1869 in Malcolm, Ont. With her husband, Joseph Monk, who survives her, she lived in Malcolm until 1935, when they retired to Elmwood. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elmwood. She was married Feb. 23, 1892. Surviving are six sons, Bert and Daniel of Brant Township; Otto of Walkerton; Reuben of Streetsville, Ont.; Alvin of Kingsland, Sask. and Rev. Victor Monk of Findlay, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Amelia) Robinson of Toronto; Mrs. John (Laura) Engle of Elmwood and Sister Edna of Kitchener; five sisters, Mrs. J. (Tena) Lerch of London, Ont.; Mrs. Ed (Bertha) Gildner of Toronto; Mrs. John (Augusta) Rosenberg of Toronto; Sister Alvina of Philadelphia and Carolyn of New York; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Elmwood. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Luther Eberhardt will officiate. The body is at the Emke Funeral Home, Chesley, until Monday noon
