  Man jailed two years in death of best friend KITCHENER - A drunk driver who ran over his best friend with his pickup truck was sentenced Tuesday to two years less a day in jail. In sentencing Norman McEachern, Justice Elliott Allen said the 28-year-old showed "wanton disregard'' for the safety of Brett Kaufman by getting in the truck with Kaufman after the two had spent the day drinking at a golf course. McEachern pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death earlier this month in Kitchener's Ontario Court.... The Waterloo Region Record 29 May 2012 ______________________________ KAUFMAN, Brett August 27, 2011 Location: Kitchener KAUFMAN, Brett Suddenly, as the result of a car accident on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the age of 34 years. Loving husband of Sherry Earle and devoted father of Colby. Much loved son of Ann and Graham Kaufman and a cherished brother of Kara Kaufman and her husband Steve Donkersgoed. Brett was a hard worker with Humphries Lawn Maintenance and Snow Removal, a licensed automotive mechanic and ushered at the Kitchener Aud. Brett's family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011 in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Parkview Cemetery followed by a reception at the funeral home.
