  ANTHONY OPPERMAN IS LAID TO REST Son Sings Mass; 14 Priests Are in Attendance WALKERTON, Nov. 14--The funeral on Saturday morning at Formosa was one of the largest witnessed in that village when the late Anthony Opperman, a highly respected citizen was laid to rest. Fourteen priests were in attendance in the sanctuary of St. Mary's Church when the funeral mass was sung by the deceased's son, Rev. Father Harry Opperman. Burial was made in the R. C. Cemetery there. The late Mr. Opperman, 73 years of age, had lived in Formosa and vicinity practically all his life. He farmed on the Elora Road, Carrick, for a few years and then moved to Formosa. In his first day of employment at the mill there he lost a portion of his hand in a saw accident, He later purchased the north end hotel, now operated by his son, Andrew, and this he conducted until three years ago when he returned to private life. For the past ten years he has acted as a district fire insurance representative. Every worthwhile endeavor for the interests of the village of Formosa and community found the late Mr. Opperman an active worker and booster, He was one of the prime movers in securing hydro electric for the village. In church and school affairs he was always prominent and in his death the village loses a leading benefactor. The late Mr. Opperman was twice married, in June, 1891, to Miss Cunigunda Martin of Formosa, and in October, 1907, to Rosina, Borho of Culross. Of the one son, Andrew of Formosa, and one daughter, (Rose) Mrs. A. A. Rollings of Atikokan, Ont., survive of the second marriage besides the widow there survives one son, Rev. Father Harry, and two daughters, Loretta of Kitchener, and Marie at home. Mrs. Ambrose Eedy of Formosa is a surviving sister..
