  Samuel S. Betzner "was born October 8th, 1835. He was married to Leah Bowman. They resided on the west end of his father's farm where he was engaged in farming. During the winter months he was engaged as a public school teacher. On May 10th, 1866, he died of consumption, leaving a wife and family of four children, namely: V Edmund (dead), V Allan, V Mary (dead), and V Lizzie" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character.
