- HECKROTH, WILLIAM. Son of Casper and Anna Catherine Heckroth. His father was born in 1825 and his mother was born in 1831, who were married at Preston, Ontario, where they lived for some time, then removed to Berlin, Ontario, and later to Freeport, Waterloo County, Ontario. There are six boys and six girls in his father's and mother's family William, born Oct. 18, 1858, is the subject of this sketch. Was married to Elizabeth Marklewtz, Sept. 28, 1880, at Berlin. Ont. She was the daughter of Gottfried and Christina Marklewitz, being the youngest of seven children, Wilhelmina, born in November, 1862; Christina, born in December, 1864; Dorothea; Henrietta: Gottlelb; Willlam, were her brothers and sisters. There are six children in the family, Ivan, born March 2, 1882; Annie, born April 5, 1883; William, born March 7, 1884; Walter, born Aug. 10, 1887; Charles was born Aug. 10, 1887; Charles born Dec. 9, 1888, and Violet, born March 29, 1891. The family lived for one year in Hamberg. Waterloo County. Ontario, and then moved to Freeport, Ontario, and remained one year and then resided at Sangem [Saugeen], Bruce County, Ontario, for 16 years, after which they moved to Oliver Township, Huron County, Mich.. onto their present farm where they have since resided.

Mrs. Christina Berlet, aged 88 years, passed away at her home, Weber St., Kitchener, on Tuesday, Nov. 14th. She had been a resident of Kitchener for twenty years.
There survive one son, Harry Berlet of Woodstock and one sister, Mrs. William Heckrouth of Elkton, Mich.
The funeral was held on Friday afternoon with public service at St. Matthew's Church. Interment took place in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery. Rev. J. Schmieder officiated.

Mrs. Christina Berlet
The death occurred at her home in Kitchener on Tuesday of Mrs. Christina Berlet in her 89th year. Mrs. Berlet was for 38 years a resident of New Hamburg and is highly esteemed. While here she was a faithful adherent of Trinity Lutheran Church.
The deceased was born in West Prussia and came to America 60 years ago. After residing for two years in Pennsylvania she then came to New Hamburg. For the past 20 years she lived in Kitchener. One son, Henry A. Berlet, of Woodstock, and one sister, Mrs. Wm. Heckroth, of Elkton, Mich., survive.
The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon, to St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener.
