WILLIAM A. GOEBEL
NEW HAMBURG, Dec. 27-The death of William A. Goebel, 48, occurred at 1.40 a.m. today at his home on Peel street, after an illness of five weeks.
The deceased was born in Mitchell on July 23, 1885, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goebel of this place. He was married on September 27, 1917, at Kitchener to Laura Hummel, who with one son survives him. The deceased is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Harry Goebel, Buffalo; Walter, Chicago; Norman, Windsor: Mrs. O. J. Kerr, Stratford, wife of Mayor-elect Kerr: Mrs. Norman Elmslie, Kitchener: Mrs. Charles Ritz, New Hamburg. One brother, Glennie, died overseas a few days before the close of the Great War.
He was in the jewellery business here for some years until three years ago. Prior to locating in New Hamburg he was in the same line of business at Baden.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. There will be a public service at his father's residence on Seyler street, and interment will be made in Riverside cemetery. H. H. Erdman, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran church, will officiate.
