    • Norman Goebelle was born in New Hamburg and moved to Galt in 1947. He was a graduate of Queen's University and Ripon College, England. He served as the city engineer of Galt from 1947 to 1960 and after retiring owned and ran a survey company. He was overseas with the Canadian Engineers during WWII and obtained the rank as Captain.
