- Cecil H. Berlette Dies In Hospital In 58th Year
Cecil H. Berlette of the firm of H. A. Berlette and Sons, garage operators and car dealers of Woodstock for many years. passed away at Woodstock General Hospital, Tuesday morning, May 7, in his 58th year, following a brief Illness of a few days, He had not been in the best of health for some time.
Mr. Berlette was born at New Hamburg, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Berlette. He came to Woodstock with his parents in 1913 and attended Woodstock schools and Woodstock Baptist College. After completing his education, he was associated with his father, the late Henry A. Berlette, in the garage and car sales business at 528 Dundas street, in which he continued to the time of his death. He was a member of Chalmers United Church.
Surviving are his widow, formerly Florence Weaver; two daughters Mrs. J. Gorrie (Joanne), Burk's Falls, Ont. and Mrs. (Dr.) J. Lind (Dorothy), Cheshire, Eng. one son, Gerry R. at home; one brother. Clare Berlette, associated with him at the garage; six grand-children and two nephews. His first wife, Pauline Bassett, predeceased him in 1949. The late Mr. Berlette is resting at the F. E. Rowell Funeral Home, 134 Riddell street, where the funeral service will be held Thursday, May 9 at 2.30 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Oates of Chalmers United church officiating. Interment will be made in the family plot in the Baptist cemetery.

There was a large attendance at the funeral service of the late Cecil H. Berlette, of the firm of H. A. Berlette and Sons, garage and car dealers, held Thursday afternoon from the F. E. Rowell Fun- eral Home. Mr. Berlette's death occurred May 7, Rev. Kenneth Oates of Chalmers United Church conducted the service, assisted by Rev. Joseph Janes, London, a former pastor of First Baptist Church, Woodstock and close personal friend of the Berlette fam ily. In addition to relatives, friends and neighbors, the service was attended by garage operators of the city and district and officials of the Chrysler Corporation. There was a profusion of beautiful floral tributes. Flower bearers were em- ployees of H. A. Berlette and Sons, neighbors and friends. Casket bearers were Douglas Moyer, Jack Forrest, Harry Sterling, Charles Tatham, Sr. and Len Tyler, Woodstock, also Douglas Campbell of Guelph. Interment was made in the family plot in the Baptist Cemetery.
