Notes |
- Mr. John Otto is one of New Hamburg's best known citizens. A quiet, unassuming gentleman he has for many years conducted a manufacturing enterprise, which, while not ranking as a large industry, is nevertheless of considerable importance, to New Hamburg. His product consists of wool boas and muffs for children, dusters, wool mats, etc. Mr. Otto does his own tanning - sheep skins being used exclusively. About 8 girls are usually employed. The. manufactured articles are really beautiful and display much taste and care in the part of the maker. They find a ready market, many going to the North West. Repairing of old furs is also done Mr. Otto is regarded as a level headed citizen by his neighbors, who have honored him this year with a seat at the Council Board.
