- Mrs. Jack Berry Dies In Kitchener
A native of New Hamburg, Mrs. John Berry, the former Clara Eichler, passed away at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital on Monday afternoon, November 2nd, in her 60th year. She had been seriously ill some time ago and went to the hospital last week for an operation from which she failed to rally.
The late Mrs. Berry was a daughter of Mrs. Lucy Eichler and the late Bernhard Eichler. She was born in New Hamburg on February 1, 1893, and spent her girlhood days here. Following her marriage to her now bereaved husband, they moved to Kitchener where they have since resided, and where she was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves in bereavement one son, Roy, and a daughter, Winnie, both of Kitchener, besides her mother, seven brothers, Charles, George, Edward, Ernie and Robert Eichler, New Hamburg, Julius of Ayr and Louis, Buffalo, and three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Riehl, Mrs. Wesley Huehn, New Hamburg, and Mrs. Lorne Cossey, Shakespeare. She is also survived by two half-brothers, and three half-sisters, namely, Henry and Fred Eichler, Mrs. Geo. Racho and Mrs. Morris Miehm, New Hamburg, and Mrs. Rev. Ernst Rieck, Buffalo.
The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon with service at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home in Kitchener, followed by interment in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. Rev. Dr. John Schmieder. pastor of St. Matthew's Church, was in charge of the services.
