Notes |
- Death of John Helem
On Wednesday morning Mr. John Helem passed peacefully away at his home here after a lingering illness. at the age of 68 years, 4 months, and 21 days. The late Mr. Helem came to New Hamburg from Walkerton, twenty years ago, when the Hamburg Felt Boot Co. was started here. taking charge of the cutting department of this establishment, which position he held until he was taken ill nearly a year ago. During his residence here he was one of our most highly respected chizens and was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends. He was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters and a veteran of the 1886 at the time of the Fenian Raid. In religion he was a Baptist and a faithful Sunday School worker. He is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. William in Calgary. and Mrs. Chas. Sterling in Youngstown. Alberta. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon from his late residence to Riverside cemetery.
