- VEITCH, Harris C.D. (Hap) - Passed away peacefully, at the age of 87, on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at his residence Lanark Heights Long Term Care Centre, Kitchener. Harris was formerly of Baden and RR 3, Ayr.He was born in Durham on December 27, 1918 to parents, Minnie (1919) and Herbert Dunsmore (1978) and was adopted by Mary (1979) and William Veitch (1934) of Hanover. Beloved husband of the late Laura Louise Barbara Livingston (1988) of Castle Kilbride, Baden. Dear father of James (Lynda) Veitch, Barbara (John) Goemans, all of Kitchener and Sherry Pearson of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by grandchildren Jonathan and Lindsay Veitch and Jennifer and Laura Pearson. Also remembered by Tom Pearson; half brother, Beverley of Ottawa and niece, Jane (Robert) Young and family of Wasaga Beach.Harris was predeceased by sister, Geraldine (1919); brother, Bruce (1983) and wife Pearl (1999) Dunsmore and by half-sister, Helen Van Stone (2005).Harris graduated from Western University London, served in the Second World War as a Sergeant Pilot overseas, had been employed with Dominion Rubber, Kitchener and was later the owner/operator of "Attics and Things Antique" in Baden. Over the years he held positions in the Ontario Automobile Club, K-W Plowing Match, K-W Art Gallery, Ontario Motor League, Rod and Gun Club, K-W Kennel Club, Baden Town Council, Wilmot Hydro, Port Elgin Beachers Association and the New Hamburg Fall Fair.We shall remember him for his humor, love of art, cribbage, bridge, music, antiques, hunting, fishing, gardening, and people. He was a great storyteller and poetry writer and appreciated what others did for him during his illness. Most of all he loved to ask about our late Mother.Friends and relatives are invited to visitation at Livingston Presbyterian Church, Baden on Tuesday May 23, 2006 from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rob Congram officiating. Reception immediately following. Burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Baden. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Livingston Presbyterian Church by contacting Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg at 519-662-1661.
