- Esteemed Former Resident Passes.
The death of Miss Cassie Allchin, a former well-know and esteemed resident of New Hamburg, occurred at Brampton on Tuesday last at the age of 82 years. Miss Allchin was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Allchin, of this town and she spent her early life in New Hamburg. She was an active member of St. George's Anglican Church, being church organist for many years. She was made a life member of the Wilmot Branch of the Women's Auxiliary of the Anglican Church. In her death the last member of the Allchin family is removed. Leaving here about thirty years ago the late Miss Allchin resided (in Lincoln, Nebraska. For the past twenty years she made her home with her sister, Mrs. H. R. D. Brown, in Toronto, who died a few years ago. She had been with Mrs. Patterson, of Brampton, who is a sister of Miss Carrie Brown, of Haysville, during her last illness where death ensued. The remains were brought here yesterday and funeral service was held in St. George's Church at 2 o'clock, followed by interment in St. James' Cemetery, Huron Road. Rev. R. C. Pitts held the funeral service which was attended by many local relatives and old friends. The pallbearers were Harry Puddicomibe, Owen Hamilton, Charles Cairncross, Earl Katzenmeier, James Forrest and Fred Walker.
