- ECKENSWILLER, Cecil William - Passed away peacefully, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Saturday December 30, 2006 in his 72nd year. Cecil was born in Galt on October 4, 1935. Cherished and devoted husband of Janet. Beloved father of Sheila and her husband Gary Irwin. Special Papa of Ryan, Jenny, Connor and Shane. Also sadly missed by his dear cats, Mickey and Benji. Cecil is also survived by his sister, Irene of P.E.I., as well as his step-daughter, Cathy (Dana) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Rhoda Eckenswiller; step-son, David Bryson and parents, Harvey Eckenswiller and Myrtle Letson and step-father, Jack Letson. Cecil was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, P.P.C.L.I and was stationed in Germany as a peacekeeper after the Second World War. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 121, Galt for over 30 years. Cecil was a 23 year employee at Walker Exhaust. Family will receive friends at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrew's St., Cambridge, today (Tuesday) from 7-9 p.m. A Legion Service under the Auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 121 will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday January 3, 2007 at 1 p.m. Private interment will take place. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr Lawrie and all the staff of the 5th floor, medicine, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
