Notes |
- BUCHANAN, NORMAN DUNCAN was a graduate of the University of Toronto, class of 1903. Postgraduate work in England gave him the degrees of Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians, London, and Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, England, in 1904, and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1905.
His card appeared in the Berliner Journal February 14, 1906 with this comment. "We refer our readers to the new card of Dr. Buchanan, whose office has been opened in the former Mackie Block, across from the Journal Glocke office. Dr. B. has studied several years in Germany and speaks the German language fluently. "There is no indication when he was in Germany.
The Berlin Telegraph of January 15, 1908 reported: Dr. N. B. Buchanan who was appointed Medical Health Officer on Monday will not accept the office at the salary specified - $50.
A few months later, on March 23, the Telegraph had a report that he was moving to Peterborough, "During his residence in Berlin Dr, Buchanan has built up a lucrative practice and made a host of warm friends who will keenly regret to hear of his decision to leave Berlin."
With his move to Peterborough at the end of that month he passes out of our sphere of interest.
