- DIED - After an illness of about three weeks with a severe cold and heart trouble, death removed another respected citizen of Baden, in the person of Mr. Jacob Mengersdorf aged 67 years, 8 months and 26 days, He was born on June 9th, 1848, in Aepfelbach, Baden, Germany and was the youngest child of his parents. He emigrated to Canada when quite young and lived for some time at Wellesley. He married Miss Anna Catharine Hoffman on May 17th, 1880. Their union was blessed with two children, one having died in infancy. He was employed at the Baden Woollen Mills, for over 22 years and he also worked at Tavietock and Wellesley. He was a member of Court Wilmot, C. O. F.A week ago Sunday, he felt quite cheerful and had hopes of recovery, but took a relapse and died on Sunday, March 5th. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Sydney Love, of New Hamburg. The funeral was held on Tuesday, from his late residence to the Lutheran Church for services, thence to the village cemetery for interment. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.
