  JOHN KNECHTEL John Knechtel, 88, North Easthope Township, died Wednesday morning at the Newcombe rest home near New Hamburg. He was a native of the township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Knechtel, and was born July 12, 1879. He was a member of Lingelbach United Church, Highway 7 and 8, east of Shakespeare. He is survived by his wife, the former Caroline Rupert, whom he married Oct. 15, 1901; one son, Valentine, and two daughters, Mrs. John (Adelia) Schamber, and Mrs. Gordon (Selina) Cook, all of North Easthope; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at Lingelbach United Church, North Easthope, conducted by Rev. T. E. Dahms. Burial followed in the adjoining church cemetery.
