- Former Bank Manager Oscar Bernhardt Dies In U.S. Aged 64
COLLING WOOD- Oscar Bernhardt, former manager of the Bank of Toronto in Collingwood, died at Rochester, Minn., in his 65th year. The funeral services were held in Collingwood Wednesday.
Mr. Bernhardt was born in Preston, Ont., and was a noted amateur hockey player in his younger days. He played with London for several seasons and twice played against Collingwood in the O.H.A. Intermediate finals in 1910 and 1913 He was an ardent curler and glmer and held offices in both Collingwood organizations for many years.
For 17 years he was secretary of the Great Northern Exhibition and Nottawasaga Agricultural Society. He was a member of the Masonic Order and was an active member of the All Saints Anglican Church here.
He also served as secretary of the local Board of Trade.
Mr. Bernhardt came to Collingwood 25 years ago and retired in 1948, after 44 years with the Bank of Toronto.
Mr. Bernhardt is survived by his wife, the former Verda McCracken, one daughter, Joan, Mrs. E. Gardner of St. Catharines, two sons, Paul of Toronto and Peter of Uxbridge. One son, Douglas. was killed in action with the R.C.A.F. in World War II.
