  Frederick Stahlachmidt PRESTON, May 29\emdash Native popularly known resident of Preston, Frederick William Stahlschmidt, 76, died at his home, 857 Vine St. at 10 o'clock last night, several hours after suffering a heart attack. Born in Preston, Mr. Stahlschmidt, with the exception of a year in Chicago, Montreal and New York, where he was engaged in business connected with his work, lived all his life in Preston. His genial personality and diversified activities won him numerous friends. Until his retirement 15 years ago he was employed with the former Stahlschmidt Furniture and remained with this concern during its change of ownership to the Canadian Office and School Furniture. An ardent member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church he was treasurer of the church for many years and an auditor at the time of his death. He was a life member of Preston Masonic Lodge No. 297 A.F. and A.M. Keenly interested in sport, Mr. Stahlschmidt was an enthusiastic fisherman and was the oldest member of the Preston Rod and Gun Club. In his earlier days he was active in many branches of sport. Surviving are his widow; daughter, Mrs. Jacob Bregman, Jr, of Preston; a son, William Frederick Stahlschmidt, of Welland; five grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Hobart Corwin, of Jackson, Mich., Mrs. Charles Whitney and Miss Alma and Miss Marion Stahlschmidt of Preston. The body will rest at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home until Monday morning, then at the residence, 857 Vine St., where a private service will be held Monday afternoon at 7.30 p.m. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
