- WALZ, Rev. Robert (Bob) Alvin Passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. following a courageous battle with cancer. Father Bob was born on August 30, 1936 in Kitchener, Ontario, the only son of the late Alvin (Ollie) Walz and Catherine White. He was predeceased by several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Father Bob graduated from St. Jerome's College, Kitchener, Ontario. He worked at various businesses within Waterloo Region including: the Bank of Montreal, Smiles and Chuckles Candies, Patene Building Supplies. He owned and operated K.W. Ice Services and two cars at Twin City Cabs. He was also office manager and financial advisor at Hartlieb The Mover. At the age of 55 years, he entered St. Peter's Seminary in London, Ontario after experiencing a strong calling to the priesthood. He was ordained on May 3, 1997 at the Cathedral of Christ the King in the Diocese of Hamilton and served as either a pastor or associate pastor at parishes in Hamilton, Guelph, Preston, Mildmay, Elora and missions in Dundalk, Melanethon and Carlisruhe. Father Bob enjoyed watching football on TV and had a genuine love for animals. He also loved the outdoors. His favourite hobby was cars and his knowledge of cars was phenomenal. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Father Bob diligently served his church and his parishioners with dignity and respect. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him Visitation will take place on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at St Teresa's RC Church 44 Leonard. Street, Kitchener. Prayer vigil 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. Teresa's R.C Church, 44 Leonard Street, Kitchener. Interment Woodland Cemetery followed by a reception at St. Teresa School Gymnasium. Many heartfelt thanks to Lise and Richard Stewart and CCAC Home Care for the exceptional care they have shown to Father Bob during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Teresa's R.C.
