Notes |
- John A. Renner
PRESTON, Aug, 29 - One of Preston's oldest citizens, in point of years of residence in the cornmuity, John Adam Renner, Sr., died at his home, 360 Hespeler St., Preston, early yesterday morning at the age of 90 years. Mr. Renner, during a lifetime of citizenship in Preston, had formed a large circle of friends and word of his passing was received with a distinct measure of regret. Born in Preston, Mr. Renner, with the exception of a short period in Neustitclt, had lived all his life in the community. A cigar-maker by trade, he learned the trade in his youth and when the trade gave way to modern methods of cigar-making he continued to grow his own tobacco in his garden and to continue to make his own cigars. He was an enthusiastic gardener. In later years he was employed by the Canadian Office and School Furniture, the Canadian National Railway and finally, before his retirement 20 years ago was employed by Pattinson Woollen Mills. Married in Kitchener 68 years ago he was predeceased by his wife, Theodora Schaeffer in 1928. Mr. Renner was an ardent member of St. Clement's RC. Church and was also a member of the Holy Name Society. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Mary Renner and a son. John Adam Renner, both of Preston, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home where the funeral will be held Tuesday with requiem high mass at St. Clement's RC. Church at 9 a.m.. Interment will be in the RC. Cemetery, Preston.
