- A-1-41 James Douglas: Last Will of James Douglas, of the village of Ayr, in the Township of North Dumfries.
…I James Douglas, of the Village of Ayr, in the Township of North Dumfries, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, do make, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament…My will is first that my funeral and testamentary expenses and all my just debts shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named and appinted. Second - I give and bequeath to the said Executors hereinafter apinted in trust for my infant daughter Margaret, to be expended in educating her and bringing her up, the sum of fifty pounds currency. The Canada Company lease of Lot 26 in the thirteenth concession of the Township of Hullet, and all my interest therein, and all my property real, personal and mixed of which I shall be seized and possessed or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease, which shall not be required for the payment of my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and the administration of my estate, and the payment of the sum of fifty pounds above bequeathed in trust for my daughter, I hereby give, devise and bequeath to my wife Agnes Douglass, hereinafter appointed an Executrix along with my Executors. Lastly I do nominate and appoint my said wife Agnes Douglas and Executrix to act with Robert Guthrie, my Brother-in-law, and George Moore my Brother-in-law, whom I hereby appoint Executors of my Estate to act in the management of its affairs, with my wife above named.
