    • MAN SUICIDES IN HESPELER CEMETERY

      Alfred Demmans Takes Life.\emdash Said To Have Suffered From Nervous Trouble.


      About 4.30 Monday afternoon, a man Identified as Alfred Demmans of Collingwood, son of George Demmans, Queen street. Hespeler took his life at the Hespeler cemetery when he is alleged to have shot himself twice. The body was found in the northwest part of the cemetery property. near the tool-house, and the weapon believed to have been used was clutched in his arms. It was a small rifle manufactured by the Stevens Arms Co., and had been bored out to take a 44 calibre cartridge The gun was a single shot weapon and the deceased had apparently fired one shot into his left side. just below the ribs, and then reloaded and fired Into his mouth, the charge tearing a hole In the top of his head. It is believed that 44 calibre shot load were used.

      No motive for suicide was established although It was reported that the deceased had suffered from nervous trouble. He was shell shocked in the war. It is said. and for some time past had not been In the best of health. Last week he obtained a marriage license, it is reported, and the marriage was to have taken place In the near future.
