    • Death of Reeve C. H. Belt, Passing of Prominent Prestonian Who Was Well and Favorably Known

A large section of this community will regret to hear of the death of Mr. C. H. Belt, of Preston, which occurred at 12: 20 this morning after an illness of two months duration. He was first affected with an attack of bronchial pneumonia, from which he was recovering after putting up a brave fight for his life. A few days ago blood poisoning developed from a scratch on his nose and in his weakened condition it was impossible to stay the progress of this malady. A consultation was held yesterday of three of the ablest physicians in the country but despite all that medical skill could do he succumbed. Mr. Belt was 43 years of age. He leaves a sorrowing wife and one daughter Lila. He carried on a large and successful undertaking business for many years in Preston and took a prominent part in public affairs. For three years he served in the Town council and acted for two years as reeve. He belonged to the Masonic and the A.O.U.W. lodges. The late Mr. Belt was well and favorably known throughout the district, and for his upright character esteemed by all. Two brothers and three sisters survive him: John, New Orleans; Rev Albert, Chicago, Miss Nora, Detroit; Mrs. Harry Edge, Seaforth; Mrs. Geek, Detroit. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2: 30 o'clock and burial will take place at the Preston cemetery.
