Kitchener-KurschinskyStore-00001-WRM.jpg Clarence Kurschinski (1911-1945) was a son of Gustav Kurschinski (1876-?) and Laura Guessinghaus (1882-1943) of Kitchener, ON.
After Gustav's death, Clarence and Laura owned and operated a second hand store in the 1930s. Clarence also repaired bed springs as part of the business. The donor believes Clarence may have learned to repair bed springs from his father, Gustav.
Clarence changed his surname to King when he married Esther Hughes (1916-1986) in 1938 or 1939. He leaves the business to his mother and is listed as working at Mitchell Buttons in the 1939 city directory. Laura operated the second hand business until her death in 1943. The business was located at 80 Elgin Street (now Duke Street East) in Kitchener.
