- Abram Tyson, "was born in Skippack, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, November 4th, 1819. In 1844 he came to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario, where he followed the mason trade for several years. After his marriage he moved to Berlin where he was engaged in the mercantile business for a number of years. When old, he in company with his sons, was engaged in the butchering business, doing a large trade. On November 5th, 1850, he was married to Julia, daughter of Henry and Hannah Headen. She was born near Exeter, Devonshire, England, May 22nd, 1830, and died in Berlin, February 9th, 1881. He died December 17th, 1891. To them was born a family of nine children"

Mr. Abram Tyson, "who was born in Pennsylvania," came to Berlin when a young man. he was a mason by trade, but afterwards went into the butcher business then also into the dry goods and general store trade. He was one of Berlin's sterling men, was elected councillor 4 times while Berlin was a village, and Reeve for 5 terms when Berlin came to be a town. Died on the 17th, aged 72 years.
