- William Strohkirch died Thursday, Aug. 19, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Terry Hunt, in this city, aged 72 years, 6 months and 3 days, of cancer of stomach and liver.
Mr. Strohkirch was born in Germany, but lived many years in county Perth, Canada, before coming to this county, 13 years ago, when he settled in Buckeye a few miles east of the city, since which time he cleared a large farm and built good buildings thereon, and the country between Gladwin and his farm has been settled, good farms cleared and good roads opened, where before there were none.
Funeral service, conducted by Rev.L. Foulkes, were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Terry Hunt, and interment took place in Highland cemetery.
Mr. Strohkirch was held in high esteem by a large circle. Before moving to this country he had been a member of the Presbyterian church. Ten children and his wife survive, all of whom were present at his funeral except his sons Charles and Ed of Canada. The others are: Mrs. Kettel of Detroit, Mrs. Terry Hunt and Mrs. Phil Morgan of Gladwin, Mrs. E. E. Smallwood and Louis Strohkirch of Buckeye; sons Christian, Theodore and Julius who live at home.
