    • Heart Attack Proves Fatal

      Walter Hilborn, a resident of Ogdensburg for 20 years, suffered a fatal heart attack at 5: 30 a.m. today (June 20, 1949) in the Hepburn Hospital. He had been brought there last Thursday after more than four years of ill health. He was 60 years old.

      Mr. Hilborn was born in Preston, Ont. on September 12, 1888, the son of Thomas and Mary L. Coons Hilborn. Until he was nine years old he went to the Preston schools. Then he started to work in a foundry. In 1909 he crossed the border and for 20 years he was a farmer in the vicinity of Morristown Centre and Lisbon. He married Mary Soper of Lisbon in 1910.

      He moved into Ogdensburg 20 years ago where he worked as a clerk in the Grand Union stores and later as a car .inspector on the New York Central Railroad. Ill health forced him to retire in 1947.

      Besides his wife, three children living at their home, 314 Deviller Street, survive: Reginald G., Gloria and Jo-Anne. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Doris) Richer of Ogdensburg, two sons: Donald H. of Ogdensburg and Pfc. Clarence E. of Fort Bragg, N. C, two brothers: John and Percy of, Preston and 16 grandchildren.

      Mr. .Hilborn was a member of Ogden Lodge 392, Knights of Pythias, and of the Methodist Church. The funeral will take place from his home at 1: 30 p.m. on Wednesday and from the First Methodist Church at 2. Burial will follow at the White Church Cemetery, Lisbon.

      Mary L. Hilborn

      Funeral services for Mary L. Hilborn, 90, United Helpers Home, will be held Thursday at 9: 30 a.m. from the Lalonde-Briggs Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ogdensburg. Calling hours will be this evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Hilborn died Monday (May 16, 1983) at 5: 45 a.m. at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, where she had been taken by the Ogdensburg Rescue Squad at 2: 15 a.m. Surviving are two sons, Donald of Oxford, Fla. and Reginald of Syracuse; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Richer, Ogdensburg, Mrs. Dominick (Gloria) Bifulco, Huntington, N.Y. and Mrs. Merle (Joanne) Crowder, Concord, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; 66 greatgrandchildren; 12 great-greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter; one son, Clarence; and one sister, Rita. Mrs. Hilborn was born in Gallway, N.Y. Oct. 28,1892, daughter of William H. and Sarah Tooley Soper. She was married to Walter Hilborn in Lisbon Jan. 18, 1911 by the Rev. Alban McKnight. Mr. Hilborn died in June of 1948. Mrs. Hilborn was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
