  ROOS, CATHERINE (Nee Currie) Widow of Jacob Roos. One of Hespeler's oldest and most esteemed citizens. Suddenly, at the home of her son, Alfred C. Roos of Hespeler, shortly after noon on Saturday, October 28, 1933, following a stroke. She seemed to be in good health on arising on Saturday morning but was taken ill at about 10 o'clock. Life-long resident of this district, born in Puslinch on the 1st concession, on April 21, 1848, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Currie. In her 86th year, she resided in Hespeler some fifty-two years. She was held in the highest regard by all who knew her. An active member of the congregation of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society of that church, she also took a comprehensive interest in community affairs. Her husband died in 1908 and but for a few years spent in Galt and Preston, Mrs. Roos has resided with her son, Survived by Alfred Roos of Hespeler; Robert of Preston; five grandchildren, Betty, Thomson and Bobby Roos of Hespeler; Billy Eltherington and Harry Roos of Preston. A private service was held at 2: 30 at the home of Alfred Roos and thence the cortege went to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, where a public service was held. Rev. T. G. Marshall conducted. Mrs. C. H. Pierce sang "In The Garden" and the hymn loved by Mrs. Roos, "I Am So Glad That Jesus Loves Me" was sung by the congregation. Pallbearers: James V. Jardine, J. H. Kohli, William Currie of Tillsonburg, Norman Schweitzer, Henry Wehner and William Sachs. Interment Hespeler Cemetery.
