- Accident to a Puslinch Man.
Preston Progress: - As Mr John Ames was returning from Mr. Cowan's foundry, Galt, with a band saw on Tuesday evening last, about 9 o'clock, he met with a serious accident on the second concession line, opposite lot 12, near Mr. Chas. Schaumberg's residence. The roadway was narrow and icy, and his wagon started to go sideways, and in spite of his every effort it was carried over the bank. Mr. Ames' horses and everything was thrown down the embankment, a fall of 10 or 12 feet among a lot of stones, with the result that Mr. Ames get his right leg broken above the ankle, and was badly shaken up. The machine costing $80 was demolished, but the horses sustained no injury. Mr. Chas. Schaumberg heard the cry for help and responded with some wood- choppers who were staying with him, carrying the injured man to his house where Dr. Lockhart set the leg Thursday. Mr. Ames was taken to his home in Morriston, where he will be under the charge of Dr. Howitt, of that village.
