      PRESTON, Oct. 26. Ailing for the past several months and hospitalized for 31/2 weeks, John Cornell died early this morning, at Knollwood Park Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 89 years. With the exception of a few years in Branchton, he had spent all his life in Preston and district. A farmer and market gardener by trade, Mr. Cornell was born in Blueville, Ont. and came to Preston as a small boy. He had been retired for the past, seven years. He was a member of St. Clement's R.C. Church. His wife, Sarah Butler, predeceased him seven years ago. Three children, Mrs. Herman Knack, RR #1, Preston; Mrs. Charles Carruthers, Dearborn, Mich. and John Cornell, Hewatt St., Preston survive. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Wesley Cornell of Sault Ste. Marie and Hubbard Cornell of Preston. Four brothers predeceased him, Albert Cornell. of Linwood; Erastus Cornell and Robert Cornell, Preston and Thomas Cornell of Sault Ste. Marie. Four sisters also predeceased him, Mrs. Kaismuir and Mrs. Miller, Wingham; Mrs. Steep, Guelph; and Mrs. William Stahlbaum, Preston. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where the funeral will be held Friday, with requiem high mass, at St. Clement's R.C. Church, at 9 a.m. Interment will be in the R.C. cemetery.
