- Breslau, April 3 - A missionary in China for 35 years, Mrs. Mary Shantz, of 1214 12th Street W. Owen Sound, died at her home yesterday. Mrs. Shantz was born in Petersburg and attended school there. Later she went to the Nyack New York Missionary Training School before going to China. She returned to Canada in 1934. She was a member of the United Missionary Church. Her husband, William Albert Shantz, whom she married Dec. 24, 1900, in China, died October 1936. One son, Howard D., Port Arthur, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Almon (Elva Mae) Courson, Mabel Head, Mass.; Mrs Dilman (Mary Kathren) Eby, Owen Sound, and two grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Alliance Tabernacle, Owen Sound, followed by a service at the Breslau United Missionary Church at 3 p.m. Interment will be made in the Cressman Mennonite Cemetery. The body will rest at the Breckenbridge - Ashcroft Funeral Home, Owen Sound, until Monday morning
