      HOWELL - Mrs. Gies, 76, of 1382 Highland Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1971 in the IOOF Home, Jackson.

      Surviving are two sons, Robert C. and Lloyd R. of Howell; four grandchildren and two great -grandchildren; a brother, Samuel Wismer of Waterloo, Ont.; and a sister, Mrs. Ada Bristol, Stratford, Ont.

      Services were Feb. 6 at the MacDonald Funeral Home, Howell. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.

      Mrs. Gies was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Howell Rebekah Lodge No. 345. She married Oscar G. Gies Dec. 23, 1915 in Canada. He died April 3, 1948.

      Born Sept. 26, 1894 in Preston, Ontario, Mrs. Gies was the daughter of John and Suzannah Gehman Wismer.

      She was a retired poultry farm operator.
