Death of Levi Hostetler
Mr. Levi Hostetler, a highly esteemed resident of New Hamburg passed away very suddenly last Friday, December 24th, following an apopletic stroke which he suffered on Wednesday night and from which he never rallied. He had not been in very good health for some time, but was able to be about and his sudden demise came as a shock to his many friends. The deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Hostetler, pioneer resident of this neighbourhood. He was born on the Hostetler homestead adjoining the village, now owned by Mr. John Ritz, 76 years ago. He remained on the homestead until the death of his only son, Moses, during the influenza epidemic in the fall of 1918, and since then he had lived retired in the town. He was married to Adeline Gabel, of Nithburg, who survives him, besides his daughter-in-law and one granddaughter. He is also survived by one brother, Henry, of Kitchener, and two sisters, Mrs. Solomon Shantz and Mrs. Emanuel Hamacher, of Wilmot. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from his late home to the Evangelical Church where the service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Knechtel, followed by internment in Riverside Cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral
