  • Notes
    • SCHULTZ, ALBERT ERASMUS was a son of Pastor A. R. Schultz of Elmira. He graduated in medicine in 1905 and although he originally intended to practice in Desboro, he changed his mind and in July began to practice in Elmira.

In 1908 he opened an office in Conestoga for two afternoons a week. In 1911 he was appointed Medical Officer of Health at an annual salary of ten dollars.

The Daily Telegraph announced on September 6, 1913, that he had sold his practice to Dr. S. L. Alexander of Toronto.

It appears that he practised in Northern Ontario after disposing of his Elmira practice. He was back in Elmira, possibly for the Christmas season, and died suddenly on December 24, 1915.

He was survived by his mother and a brother.

      ____________

As a great surprise came the news, on Wednesday morning, that Dr. Schulz had died at the home of Mr. Wm. Brox, as very few people knew of his presence in town. The deceased, who formerly conducted a successful medical practice in Elmira, was for the last year or so practising in northern Ontario. During the week his mother got word that he was coming to Elmira. So she and Mr. Brox went to meet him in Toronto and together they came back to Elmira on Tuesday evening. The Doctor seemed quite well and. conversed with Mr. Brox until a late hour. Some time after retiring he intimated that he was ill. He got rapidly worse, suffering great pain. The three local physicians were called on consultation but could do nothing for him, and he passed away on Wednesday morning. Death is ascribed to heart failure. Deceased leaves a wife and little daughter, also one brother, Rev. E. A. Schulz, resident in the States, and his aged mother, for whom much sympathy is expressed in her affliction. The funeral will take place from the house of Mr. Wm. Brox on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Service in St.James Church after burial.
